John Coltrane's A Love Supreme

The Escape will be airing a special two-hour program that pays tribute to John Coltrane's landmark Jazz album A Love Supreme on Wednesday December 11, at 12pm, hosted by hip-hop artist Mos Def.

Coltrane and his quartet, pianist McCoy Tyner, bassist Jimmy Garrison, and drummer Elvin Jones, recorded the album on December 9, 1964. What started as a "humble offering" has become an enduring masterpiece in popular music.

The show is sponsored by JP Morgan Chase, The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, Verve Records, and Viking Books. The show was produced by WBGO, Jazz 88, in New Jersey.
