Plymouth High School junior Shannon Shaver's article on P-CEP's proactive approach to anti-bullying was featured in the National Edition of the My High School Journalism website. The story had originally run in the Dec. 16 edition of the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park Perspective (student newspaper at P-CEP).
Kevin Epling, the father of the young man for whom "Matt's Safe School Law" is named, commented on the article and complimented Shannon on her work. The online article may be viewed at http://pcep.pccs.k12.mi.us/node/2527
1000 Pitches is a competition held each fall term at the University of Michigan to generate innovative business and product ideas from U-M students. This year, three Canton High School graduates were awarded $1000 each for their entries in one of nine categories. Catherine Huang, a 2011 graduate, entered a parking space locator application called ParkMe in the Mobile Apps category. Michael Gleba, a 2009 grad, won in the Health category for his Lancet Devive Diabetic App.
Plymouth-Canton Educational Park band students have planned a variety talent show for the community. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $6 for adults, $4 for students and senior citizens. The talent show is comprised of musicians, comedians, dancers, singers and musical groups. The band students organize the annual event as part of their concert band curriculum. The band is led by director of bands, David Armbruster. The P-CEP Symphony Band will perform as will the P-CEP Wind Ensemble. The award-winning Plymouth-Canton Marching Band also will perform.
Please find attached the agenda for the Board of Education Special Meeting on Mon., Jan 30, 2012 at 7 p.m.
The Board of Education wishes to apologize to the community for the decision at its January 24 meeting to limit the period of Citizen Comment. The intent of this decision was not to stifle public comment or deny persons the opportunity to speak but to keep the comment period at a reasonable length to allow the Board to conduct its business. Citizen comment has lately occupied a large portion of Board meetings. It has been a difficult task for the Board to balance the desire to hear from the public with its need to conduct school district business.
The deadline to nominate a student to be screened for admission to the Talented and Gifted (TAG) Program for the 2012-13 school year is February 6, 2012.
